Sarasota, March 15: Wednesday was the opening day for the Orioles Minor League squads. The Norfolk (AAA) and Bowie (AA) squads visited their counterpart Minnesota Twins squads, while Frederick (A+) and Delmarva (A) hosted their counterparts at home at the Buck O’Neil Complex at Twin Lakes. The complete schedule and rosters are posted in our Minor League section.

It was not typical weather today due to the cold weather sinking south from the Stella Storm complex. The high was only about 62, and it was a bit breezy. Not unlike a spring game in Delmarva.

An annual word of caution: They are called “squads” because they are not team rosters. There will be plenty of moving players up and down to give everyone playing time and to adjust for players reporting from the major league camp. Also scores are meaningless as rules are broken for the convenience of creating desired situations.

A highlight of Opening Day at the minors was the sharp pitching of #1 2016 draft selection Cody Sedlock. (Photo below)

Other pitchers scheduled for today are listed below.

The lineup for the Frederick Squad is presented below. It’s just like you are there to see for yourself.

The lineup for the Delmarva Squad is as follows:
