Francisco Pena hit two homers

The Orioles struck out 15 times against Royals pitching as the Royals continue to find a way to beat the Orioles like a drum once again.

Starting Pitcher

Chris Tillman sat at just 89-91 MPH and couldn’t put away batters as it took him an Ubaldo like 105 pitches in just four and third innings. Looking more like a late in spring training start than a mid-May start, Tillman allowed eight hits and two walks while striking out four.

Relief Pitching

For the third consecutive game the Orioles bullpen took the loss, this time it was when Alec Asher gave up a lead twice to take the loss.

Hitting

The hitting star tonight was catcher Francisco Pena who told PR director Orioles Kristen Hudek that he would hit a home run and then say hello to his mother. Pena doubled up on that offer and crushed two home runs off Royals starter Nate Karns while the rest of his teammates made him look like Cy Young reincarnate. Chris Davis homered in the 6th but also struck out two more times.

Fielding

Adam Jones misplayed two balls in center field but neither cost a run.
