Cubs principal owner Tom Ricketts said in the Athletic that he feels that some clubs spent in past seasons because of TV deals kicking in or other lump sum monies becoming available. He indicated that the trend may not continue. “I think everyone has finite resources.”
Some fans feel that the Orioles will increase spending from their record 2017 ~165 million dollar club.
Others feel that recent financial issues such as declining Baltimore attendance and MASN courts setbacks will cause the club to become a true small market spender.
