John Means made a spot start and kept the Orioles in the game. The bats stayed silent so they fell.

Starter

Lefty Means lasted five innings allowing four hots and a run. It would have been enough for the loss as the Oriole gave him no support. He struck out three and walked one. A very nice outing up in Boston for a left hander.

Other Pitching

Evan Phillips and Miguel Castro put up zeros, Paul Fry allowed a run and Josh Lucas two. Phillips struck out all three batters he faced. Lucas gave up his runs and Fry’s with a big fly. In a third of an inning.

Hitters

Trey Mancini and Richie Martin both doubled. Hanser Alberto, Jonathan Villar, and Renato Nunez singled.
