Jonathan Villar Is Traded

After being placed on waivers Jonathan Villar was traded to the Miami Marlins for recently drafted Pepperdine starter Easton Lucas. It appears that he missed two seasons of college with an injury. Possibly Tommy John.

After signing for 75,000 Lucas pitched short season baseball with moderate results. He struck out more than a batter per inning and EVP/GM Mike Elias says he profiles as a backed starter with a bit of development.
