The Red Sox brought their AL East last place record into Baltimore and rode the strong pitching of Nathan Eovaldi to defeat the Orioles, who are now 12-13 on the season.

Eovaldi held the Birds scoreless for 6 innings until left fielder Pat Valaika led off the 7th inning with his third homerun of the season. Eovaldi finished the game with a line of 7.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB and 6 K.

The Orioles managed just those five hits surrendered by Eovaldi and in fact went 0 for 3 with runners in scoring position.

Anthony Santander entered the night on a 14 game hitting streak with a .362/ .413/ .879/ 1.292 slash line during that time. He extended the streak with a 1st inning single to center. He finished the game 1 for 4.

Asher Wojciechowski started and lasted just 3.2 innings and allowed 3 runs on 7 hits. He walked 1, struck out 4 and allowed a Xander Bogaerts homerun; Wojiechowski took the loss, his third.

Miguel Castro also had a rough outing: 1.0 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 1 K and a homerun allowed to Mitch Moreland.
