ORIOLES ANNOUNCE MINOR LEAGUE MANAGERS, COACHES, AND STAFF

The Orioles today announced the coaching staffs for their minor league affiliates for the 2021 season. The staffs of each: Triple-A Norfolk, Double-A Bowie, Class A-Advanced Aberdeen, and Class-A Delmarva are listed below, along with the Complex League and DSL Orioles.

GARY KENDALL enters his 22nd season in the organization and his 24th in professional baseball. He begins his 18th season as a professional manager, and his third year managing the Tides after managing at the Double-A level for eight years, and seven years at the Class-A and Rookie levels (Aberdeen, 2008-2010; Delmarva, 2005-07; and Bluefield, 2004). KENNIE STEENSTRA will serve as the Tides pitching coach, his 17th year in the organization. TIM GIBBONS enters his second year in the Orioles organization, and his first as the Tides hitting coach. RAMON SAMBO enters his third season with Norfolk and his 15th overall year in the Orioles system. MALCOLM HOLLAND joins Norfolk and the Orioles organization as the Tides Development Coach. Holland, a recent graduate of the University of Arizona, played football collegiately for the Wildcats from 2015-19 after previously playing five years of minor league baseball in the Los Angeles Dodgers system. CHRIS POOLE returns for his fourth season as Norfolk’s Athletic Trainer and his ninth year with the organization. TREY WIEDMAN will serve as the Tides Strength and Conditioning Coach for the second-straight year.

BUCK BRITTON enters his third season as Double-A Bowie’s manager. Britton made his managerial debut with Class-A Delmarva in 2018, after beginning his coaching career in 2017 as the Hitting Coach for the Shorebirds. He played nine seasons in the minors, including seven in the Orioles organization. Britton will be joined by Baysox Pitching Coach JUSTIN RAMSEY, who is in his third season in the Orioles organization and second with Double-A Bowie. RYAN FULLER joins Bowie as the Baysox Hitting Coach, his second season in the Orioles organization. JEFF KUNKEL enters his second season in the Orioles organization, and first as the Baysox Fundamentals Coach. GRANT ANDERS begins his second season in the Orioles organization and second as Bowie’s Development Coach. MARTY BRINKER starts his first season as Bowie’s Athletic Trainer. He held the same position the past three seasons with Frederickafter working in the same role for Delmarva in 2017 and Aberdeen in 2015-16. JON MEDICI will serve as the Baysox Strength and Conditioning Coach, his second-straight year with Bowie and the Orioles organization.

KYLE MOORE returns to manage the IronBirds, his first at the Advanced-A level, after also managing Aberdeen in 2018 when they were a Short-Season A club. It is Moore’s fourth managerial season in the Orioles organization. He was named the manager of the Class A-Advanced Frederick Keys in November of 2019 prior to the cancellation of the 2020 minor league season due to COVID-19. He also managed Class-A Delmarva during the 2019 season. JOSH CONWAY enters his first year as Pitching Coach for the IronBirds and his third season in the Orioles organization. TOM ELLER, in his third season with the Orioles organization, will be the IronBirds Hitting Coach. TIM DeJOHN will serve as Aberdeen’s Fundamentals Coach, his second season in the Orioles organization. RYAN GOLL joins the IronBirds as their Development Coach, his second season with the Orioles organization, after spending the 2020 season as a Player Development Intern. ADAM SPARKS enters his first year as the IronBirds Athletic Trainer and his fourth within the Orioles organization.

DAVE ANDERSON enters his second season as manager of the Shorebirds, and his seventh year in the organization. Anderson has 10 years of minor league managerial experience. He has spent the past 27 seasons as a coach, coordinator, or manager in professional baseball. ROBBIE AVILES begins his second season as Delmarva’s Pitching Coach and third in the organization. PATRICK JONES begins his second season with the Orioles organization and first as the Shorebirds Hitting Coach. MATT PACKER will serve as Delmarva’s Fundamentals Coach, his second-straight season with the Shorebirds and second in the Orioles organization. DAVID BARRY takes over as the Shorebirds Development Coach, his second season in the coaching rankings and third season overall within the Orioles organization. GARY SMITH enters his first season as the Athletic Trainer for Delmarva. It is his fifth year overall with the Orioles organization. LIZ PARDO begins her second season with the Orioles organization, and first as the Shorebirds Strength and Conditioning Coach.

KEVIN BRADSHAW begins his first season as a manager in the Complex League, while ALAN MILLS enters his third season as a manager at the Complex League level. ADAM BLEDAY and JOE HAUMACHER will serve as the Complex League Pitching Coaches. BRANDEN BECKER and ANTHONY VILLA take over as the Complex League Hitting Coaches. The Complex League Fundamentals Coaches will be CHRISTIAN FRIAS and COLLIN WOODYADAM SCHUCK will be the Complex League Development Coach, his first year in the organization. ALIKS LORIE begins his third year in the Orioles organization and his second serving as the Complex League Athletic Trainer. BRANDON FARISH returns for his third season in the Orioles organization and second-straight as the Complex League Strength and Conditioning Coach.

ELVIS MOREL will once again manage one Dominican Summer League team, while CHRIS MADERA will serve as the manager of the other DSL squad. The DSL Orioles Pitching Coaches will be DIONIS PASCUAL and ANDY SADOSKIRAMÓN CARABALLO and JOSH BUNSELMEYER will serve as the DSL Hitting Coaches. MIGUEL JABALERA will serve as the DSL Orioles Fundamentals Coach and RAMÓN LUBO will be the Development Coach. BRANDON RODRIGUEZ and JULIO IBARRA will serve as the DSL teams Athletic Trainers. JULIO DIAZ serves as the DSL Orioles Strength and Conditioning Coach.

KENT QUALLS enters his ninth season with the Orioles as Director of Minor League Operations. MATT BLOOD enters his second season with the Orioles as Director of Player Development. MARIA ARELLANO enters her 16th season with the Orioles, and second as Senior Manager, Minor League & International Administration. ANAÍMA GARCÍA enters her second season as the Orioles Education Coordinator. RYAN FULLER, in addition to his Hitting Coach position with Bowie, will also serve as the Orioles Full Season Hitting Coordinator. ANTHONY VILLA is the Orioles Complex Level Hitting Coordinator, in addition to his coaching position with the GCL Orioles. JOE BOTELHO enters his first season as the Orioles Minor League Technology Coordinator. FELIPE ROJAS ALOU, JR. will return to serve as Director of the Dominican Academy. RANCEL ROSADO will continue to serve as the Orioles Dominican Academy Administrator. RAMÓN ALARCÓN returns to serve as the Orioles Spanish Translator and Coordinator of Latin American Operations. DAVE SCHMIDT, in his 24th season in the organization, will serve as Florida and Latin America Pitching Coordinator DAVE WALKER will begin his 19th year as Minor League Medical Coordinator and 28th season in the organization. KYLE CORRICK returns to serve as the clubs Rehab Coordinator. KATHRYN ROWE begins her second season in the Orioles organization as the clubs Mental Skills Coordinator. ETHAN STEWART enters his second season as the Orioles Player Performance Facilitator and NICK WHITE also returns as the Orioles Minor League Strength and Conditioning Coordinator. JAKE PARKER returns as Minor League Equipment Manager for the 12th season.
