Pitching very impressive.
Got a long one today... this was a fun game.
The Standouts
Adam Jones - Crushed an RBI double to dead center to give the O's the 1-0 lead.
Brian Matusz - 2 scoreless innings with what appeared to be good fastball velocity. No walks and 1 strikeout.
Brian Roberts - Well, hello there. 2 doubles, 2 runs scored, and a forced balk while he was dancing off the bag.
Nate McLouth - A pinch-hit 2-run double that just missed being a 3-run shot. Beautiful stroke.
Mike Wright - 2 scoreless innings and looked good doing it, albeit against lesser competition.
The Solid Efforts
Nick Markakis - Nick got 2 hits, including an RBI single to drive home Roberts. Nice slide to break up a DP ball from Jones.
Chris Davis - Another two good plays at 1B including The Reynolds Toe. Also worked a walk.
Mark Hendrickson - Allowed 2 hits, but looked comfortable in his scoreless inning. Threw a ton of strikes - maybe too many.
Trayvon Robinson (w/hat tip to Canzler) - Getting mentioned for the third straight game. A single and a stolen base, driven home by Russ Canzler's first hit of the spring, an RBI single.
Yamaico Navarro - Giving Navarro some love here because he's done nothing but good things in each of the first three games. Drew a walk today and had a nice play at 2B on a hot shot.
Try Again Next Time
Matt Wieters - 0-3 including a GIDP and 3 left on base.
Other Notes
Zach Clark, Strop, and Hunter also pitched scoreless innings, with Clark looking especially good. Adam Russell's command was shaky in the 9th when he allowed a walk, hit, and run in the 9th, but it should have been a scoreless inning when the ump blew a caught stealing call.
O's win 5-1 and are 3-0 in Grapefruit Ball.
