Twelve innings of offensive sleepiness, wake up to Orioles Magic with a walk off in the twelfth inning.
Bud Norris struck out two in the first inging with a groundout to newly healthy gold glove shortstop J.J. Hardy wedged in between.
Bud put a two strike slider right down the middles to Encarnacion to lead off the second. It came right back at him and would have taken off his head had he not ducked. He then got a double play ball. Hardy again. A hit through the middle and a ground out to Steve Lombardozzi.
A walk to Brett Lawrie started the third, but a fielders choice getting the lead runner followed. After a single through the middle and a pop up, Bud threw two 95 MPH fastballs to Jose Bautista. He struck him out on the same pitch he got him on in the first inning.
An Adam Lind ground ball against the overshift went for a one out hit in the fourth. Bud Norris came right back and got a tapper back to him on a great change up. Adam Jones caught the third out at the wall.
Adam Jones caught a looper to start the fifth. A grounder between first and second went through for a hit. David Lough caught a fly ball hit right at him. Norris handled a come-backer that was right to him for the third.
Norris was still at 94 MPH on the gun in the sixth. He walked the first batter. A ground out put a runner at second. Jose Bautista, that runner, got picked off by Steve Clevenger to end the inning.
Bud Norris walked the first batter in the seventh, Rasmus hit a fly out to Adam Jones again. A ground out to Steve Lombardozzi moved the runner to second. A pinch hitter named Kratz was HBP, but he was swinging. A strikeout to end the inning. Bud Norris ended with 105pitches. No runs.
Evan Meek was called on to pitch the eighth inning. After two outs, he walked Jose Bautista. A fielder's choice to "man of the hour" Jon Schoop ended the inning.
Orioles closer Tommy Hunter came on with a one run lead in the ninth inning. A pop out to J.J. Hardy in his shifted position on the first pitch records the first out. His fastball was clocked at 97 MPH. A two strike breaking ball induced a lazy fly to Lough in left. Two quick sliders for strikes. Strike three was check swing that was not called. It is the third base umpire's first major league game today, Rasmus then homered to tie the game. Tommy then got the strike out. Extra Innings.
Darren O'Day pitched the tenth inning. He sandwiched two outs around a Melky Cabrera double. He pitched around Jose Bautista and went to a 2-0 count on Encarnacion. He then worked it back to an even count and induced a pop out to right field.
Zach Britton pitched two scoreless innings. Allowing just a walk.
In the first inning Adam Jones went to right field with two srtikes and Chris Davis on second base courtesy of a walk and a stolen base. Chris did not score.
The Orioles were hitless in the second inning.
Two singles in the bottom of the third remained on base after Chris Davis struck out swinging and Adam Jones watched ball three be call strike three.
A walk, a replay disputed single, and a douple play kept the game scoreless through four.
Five pitches were required to end the Orioles fifth.
Three up three down in the sixth. It's been fifteen innings.
David Lough flared an oposite field single with two outs. Jon Schoop pounded an oposite field double to the wall on a two strike pitch. David Lough scored from first easily. After a pitching change, Nick grounded out, stranding Jon. The streak is over though. In the 73rd hour.
Nelson Cruz walked, but Chris Davis struck out again. Adam Jones popped out. Cruz moved to second on a wild pitch. Steve Clevenger popped out to end the inning.
Two quick fly outs in the Orioles half of the ninth. David Lough struck out to end regulation.
Two innings of futility
J.J. Hardy opened the bottom of the 12th inning having a triple stolen by Jose Bautista. Then Steve Lombardozzi DID hit a triple. David Lough, who had been missing in action with post concussion syndrome, singled to walk off the Orioles win.
J.J. Hardy had his game clock right on time. Smoothly anchoring the infield defense.
Steve Clevenger called a magnificent game for Bud Norris.
Steve Lomabrdozzi and David Lough made the work worthwhile.
David Lough, who has been out with concussion syndrome, scored the first Orioles run and drove in the other. .
All is right in Birdland despite having to play twelve innings. WIN COLUMN. And a pie face.
