Today's game got under way at 12:35 with Justin Verlander and Kevin Gausman on the mound. The Tigers scored first when Miguel Cabrera drove in two on a single in the 3rd inning. The Tigers then tacked on three more in the 4th, causing an early exit for Gausman. After Adam Jones and Chris Davis hit RBI singles, Nelson Cruz lauched a 2-out three run bomb off Verlander in the 5th inning to cut the Tigers lead to one. The Tigers would keep the Orioles bats at bay the rest of the way while adding an insurance run from a solo homer by Rajai Davis in the 6th to secure a win.

With Gausman, already working on a pitch limit, his day was done and Miguel Gonzalez took over in the 5th.
