    Paul Taylor Blogs the Ironbirds

    Get out the brooms

After falling behind last night by scores of 2-0, 3-1, and 5-1, the Aberdeen IronBirds used a five run fifth inning to take a 6-5 lead. They would tack on an insurance run in the eighth inning, and earned a 7-5 win. The win gave the IronBirds a two game sweep of the Cyclones, dropping Brooklyn into last place in the McNamara Division. The IronBirds are now 3-2 against the Cyclones so far this season.

    Vader gets the win

RHP Sebastian Vader toughed out five innings in last night’s game. He allowed eight hits, five runs (four earned), and walked two. He walked the Cyclones’ Jared King with two outs in the third inning. It was the first walk of the season for Vader, snapping a streak of 15.2 innings without a walk. Vader left after the fifth, and it was in the bottom of the inning that the Aberdeen bats exploded. Jimmy Yacabonis got credit for his first professional save last night after saving ten games for St. Joseph’s University (PA) this season.
