Jomar Reyes at 17 in the GCL has a very respectable .726 OPS. In his last 10 games, he's hitting .361 with 3 walks and only 5 strikeouts. The fact that he's progressing and controlling the strike zone is very encouraging. There's a good chance he'll be ready for Delmarva as an 18 year old and I'm excited to see how he progresses.
Ofelky Peralt, also 17, is in the DSL and seems like more of a project. However, he's got great size (6'5 195) and a reportedly very live arm. Even with rudimentary secondary stuff and inconsistent control, you can see glimpses of promise
1. 5 IP 2 H 1 walk 5 strikeouts
2. 5 IP 3 H 1 walk 7 strikeouts
3. 4 IP 0 H 4 walks 5 strikeouts
#2 and #3 were his last two starts. Overall the numbers are not real pretty:
38 IP 23 H 34 walks 29 strikeouts.
Still, I think there is breakout protential for this guy, hopefully as soon as next year.
