With apologies to Roch Kubatko of The Sun, I decided to give blogging from the game a shot today here at Camden Yards. It’s my first time in the press box in over three years and even though there are some scattered thunderstorms around, I think we’ll be able to get the game in.
You just don’t know how much I’m enjoying being back in Baltimore. Before the game I sat with Roch and Childs Walker from the Sun as well as Jorge Arangue Jr. and another reporter from the Washington Post just talking Baltimore sports. Maybe that doesn’t sound like much for you, but I haven’t had a good Raven conversation in a long time.
Speaking of the Ravens, Steve McNair is about to throw out the first ball of the game. The sparse crowd gave him a standing ovation, but more importantly, you have to wonder if the rift between the Ravens and Orioles could be beginning to thaw. In case you were wondering, McNair threw a strike to Kurt Birkens. For some reason I could see Kyle Boller throwing one to the backstop. It sure is great to see McNair in Baltimore.
Well, it appears the first thunderstorm has arrived. The rain has started and the tarp, which was already in position to be put on in the outfield is being put on. Don’t worry though, it appears to be a scattered thunderstorm and not a series or them. Guess it’s time to check the radar again.
