Gausman shows big league stuff this spring

Kevin Gausman wasn't great today, but even though pitching coach Rick Adair didn't think his stuff was as good as its been this spring, he showed the promise that should have Orioles fans excited.

Overall, Gausman showed major league stuff. His fastball was between 90-94 today, touching 96. The best news though is the pitch has tremendous arm side run and some sink. He'll get his share of ground balls and strike outs with the pitch. His change up can be a plus-plus offering at times coming in between 77-81 MPH with great tilt and some fade. He has great feel for the pitch. His slider can be solid at times but he also can throw a few that don't break as much. His velocity was off a bit on his slider according to Adair, but he did flash a few plus ones.

His command today was not great in the beginning and he looked like he tired a bit when his velocity dropped off a bit in the 3rd, but it's still early in the spring.

Without a doubt Gausman has big league stuff, but it won't hurt to see him fo to Bowie for 8-12 starts before being under consideration for the rotation if a need arises.
