Roberts shows signs of being back

Coming into this season, there were lots of questions about Brian Roberts. Afterall, this is a guy who has spent more time on the disabled list then on the field over the last three years

He got off to a hot start this spring and eventually ended with solid numbers, but by the end of the spring there were whispers of a slowing bat and lack of arm strnegth due to some bad throws down in Sarasota.

In today's opener, Roberts went 2-for-4 with a run scored, but two things stood out even more then the solid bosxscore numbers.

In the 7th inning, he turned around a 1-2, 97 mph fastball from Jake McGee for a single up the middle that started the Orioles big inning. Grant it the pitch was right down the middle, but Roberts showed enough bat speed to get to that pitch despite being in a breaking ball count. That's good news for a guy who some people question his bat speed.

In the 9th, Roberts turned a nice double play with a solid throw that looked like the old Brian Roberts.

Only Roberts will be able to answer his critics with sustained success, but those two plays alone should give Orioles fans some hope that Brian Roberts is back.
