The Orioles could use an upgrade at backup catcher

There may be bigger issues with the Orioles than back up catcher, but it's amazing how awful Taylor Teagarden's bat has been for the Orioles.

Since 2009, Teagarden has hit .156/.230/.291/.520 with 77 strikeouts in 202 major league PAs. He clearly is not here for his offense, but his defense is not so stellar that the Orioles can't find an upgrade. Really, I think Showalter just like his pitch calling and values that over offense.

2013 ERA while catching (not counting today)
    Snyder: 2.60
    Teagarden: 2.80
    Wieters: 4.83

    2012
    Teagarden: 4.50
    Wieters: 3.79

Teagarden was worse than Wieters last year, but better this year. I don't know why Buck likes him so much, but I do know that Teagarden does not have a major league bat and I can't imagine it would be tough to replace him. Chris Snyder, who the Orioles DFA'd when Teagarden returned from his annual DL trip, has a much better bat, throws out runners about the same as Teagarden, and at least for this year, calls a better game.

I really don't understand the love for Teagarden by Showalter, but I do know it's good to be a Buck guy.
