Orioles Win 2-1 On Gentry Walkoff Single!

The Ubaldo Jimenez jeckyll-and-hyde act continued tonight. We saw the good version of Jimenez this time out. He dominated the Royals, holding them to just one run over 7 innings, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out six. He is the Hangout Player of the Game.

Relief

  • Mychal Givens struck out two and retired the side in order in the 8th.
  • Zach Britton retired the side in order in the 9th and earned his first win of the season.

Hitting

  • Jonathan Schoop went 2-for-4 and tied the game with an RBI single in the 5th. He’s now batting .307 overall.
  • Manny Machado went 2-for-4 and scored in the 5th on Schoop’s single.
  • Caleb Joseph singled and later scored the game winning run in the 9th.
  • Craig Gentry grounded a two-out single up the middle to score Joseph and give the Orioles a walkoff win

The Orioles finish July with a 12-14 record for the month. They are 51-54 overall and 4.5 game back in the wild card race and 6.5 back in the AL East.
