In one of the most anticipated debuts by Orioles fans, Ryan Mountcastle led the team onto the field as he made his Major League debut. The Boston Red Sox relied on the long ball to spoil that debut, winning by a score of 8-5.

For the record, Mountcastle played LF, batted sixth and finished the night 0 for 2 with 2 walks and 1 strikeout.

Xander Bogaerts, J D Martinez (on his birthday) and Rafael Devers all hit homeruns for the Red Sox.

Pat Valaika, Cedric Mullins and Chance Sisco hit homeruns for the Orioles but they were not enough to overcome the Red Sox. At the bottom of the lineup, the trio combined to go 5 for 12 with 3 runs scored and 5 RBI.

Anhony Santander extended his hitting streak to 16 games with his 3rd inning single; he finished the game 1 for 5.

John Means started and pitched 3.0 innings allowing 3 runs on 4 hits with 2 strikeouts and 2 homeruns allowed; he took the loss and is now 0-2.

Thomas Eshelman and Shawn Armstrong each pitched a clean inning of relief.
