Matt Harvey could be refinding his old velocity.

The Baltimore Orioles beat the Boston Red Sox 4-2 on Saturday; it was the team’s second straight win to start the season.

Starter Matt Harvey (4.2 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 4 K) came within one out of reaching 5.0 innings pitched when a JD Martinez batted ball bounced off of him, allowing Martinez to reach first.

Recently acquired RHP Adam Plutko (2.1 IP, 1 H, 2 K) relieved Harvey and was credited with the win after Dillon Tate (1.0 IP, 1 K) provided the bridge to Cesar Valdez (1.0 IP, 1 BB, 1 K), who was credited with his second save in as many days.

Boston starter Tanner Houck held Orioles’ hitters in check early, striking out 8 of the 22 batters he faced. Houck struck out at least one Baltimore batter in each of his five innings of work and in fact, struck out the side in the second inning.

A Rio Ruiz walk followed by a Rafael Devers throwing error on an Austin Hays single and a passed ball resulted in 2 runs when Maikel Franco (1 for 4, 2 RBI) singled to center. The Orioles never looked back after that.

Cedric Mullins went 2 for 4 from the lead-off spot while Pedro Severino went 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored. RBI hits by Anthony Santander and Trey Mancini rounded out the Orioles’ scoring.
