The Baltimore Orioles trekked down I-95 to play a weekend series with the Washington Nationals. In the opener on Friday, the Orioles lost 4-2.

The game was not as close as the score suggests. The Orioles were limited to just 2 hits and were shut-out through eight innings.

In the ninth inning Trey Mancini (2 for 3, 2 doubles, 1 run scored and 1 BB) hit a 1 out double and scored on Freddy Galvis’ (1 for 3, 1 HR, 1 run scored, 2 RBI and 1 BB) two out homerun to left field.

Anthony Santander (1 for 4) returned to the lineup after a stay on the IL and singled in his first at-bat of the game.

Despite a decent outing, starter Jorge Lopez (5.0 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 8 K) was tagged with the loss and is now 1-4 on the year. Tyler Wells (2.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 K) and Shawn Armstrong (1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB) combined to finish the game.
