The Baltimore Orioles travelled to the south side of Chicago and the result was the same, a loss. The losing streak has now reached 10 games as the Orioles fell to the White Sox 5-1.

Making matters worse, Trey Mancini was hit in the right elbow by a Dylan Cease fastball in the first inning. Mancini left the game after attempting to warm up defensively in the bottom of the inning.

Pat Valaika (0 for 2, 1 BB) replaced Mancini at first base.

Mancini must have taken the Birds bats with him to the clubhouse with him. Orioles batters managed just 5 hits, went 0 for 12 with runners in scoring position and struck out 16 times (Cease struck out 10).

Making his 8th start of the season, Bruce Zimmermann did his part and gave the team a chance to win with a nice outing. The southpaw tossed 5.0 innings and surrendered 1 run, a homerun by former Oriole farmhand Yermin Mercedes, and 6 hits while walking 1 and striking out 6.

Cesar Valdez was ineffective in relief. He allowed 3 runs on 3 hits, 2 of those were doubles, struck out 1 and walked 1 in one-third of the 7th inning.

Now for the good: Freddy Galvis (1 for 4, 1 run scored, 1 RBI) homered in the 4th inning. Anthony Santander went 2 for 4 with a double.

Cedric Mullins (1 for 4) and Maikel Franco (1 for 4) recorded the other Orioles hits.

2021 Record: 17-33
