The losing streak is now 13 games and the Orioles went 0-10 on the road trip. The team will limp back to Baltimore for an eight game homestand following today’s 3-1 loss to the Chicago White Sox.

Keegan Akin made his first start of 2021 and needed 94 pitches to navigate 4.2 innings. He allowed 1 run, on a Billy Hamilton homerun, on 5 hits, walked 2 and struck out 4.

The sixth inning pretty much summed up the Orioles offense for most of the losing streak. The Orioles loaded the bases with one out and could not score; Anthony Santander struck out and Maikel Franco popped out to end the threat and the inning.

The game was a 1-1 tie until the wheels came off the cart in the seventh inning. Dillon Tate (1.0 IP, 2 R, 3 H, 1 Error) started the inning in relief and gave up a single to Tim Anderson. Anderson stole second base and was subsequently picked off except Tate’s throw went past Freddy Galvis. Nick Madrigal hit a RBI triple and Yoan Moncado followed with a RBI single and the Orioles were all but done and Tate was 0-3 for the season with the loss.

Orioles batters struck out 12 times, all with White Sox starter Lucas Giolito pitching, and managed only 3 hits.

DJ Stewart homered in the 3rd inning and finished 1 for 2 wirh the lone run scored, 1 RBI and a walk. Cedric Mullins had the Orioles other 2 hits and finished the day 2 for 4 with a triple and a stolen base.
