Saturday’s 5-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays extended the Baltimore Orioles road losing streak to a club record 14 games. The team has not won a game on the road since John Means no-hit the Seattle Mariners on May 5th.

Starter Jorge Lopez (4.2 IP, 5 R, 8 H, 1 BB, 8 K) spotted the Rays to a five run lead before turning the game over to the bullpen. Tanner Scott walked 1 and struck out 3 in an inning of work and Hunter Harvey continued his comeback from injury by walking 1 in 1.1 innings of relief.

Austin Wynns (1 for 3, 1 R, 4 RBI) closed the gap with his fifth inning grand-slam homerun off Rich Hill (4.2 IP, 4 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 5 K). Whatever momentum that blast may have generated was squelched by the Tampa Bay bullpen. Four relievers held the Birds to just 2 hits while striking out 6 over 4.1 combined innings pitched.

Pat Valaika (1 for 2, 1 R, 1 BB) and Freddy Galvis (2 for 4, 1 R) recorded the two hits off the Rays relievers.

Cedric Mullins went 2 for 4 with a stolen base and is currently hitting .321.

2021 Record: 22-41
