The Baltimore Orioles traveled to Kauffman Stadium on Friday to begin the second half of the 2021 season. We’ve seen this story before, the Orioles are limited to 6 hits, they go 0-6 with runners in scoring position and ultimately fall to the Kansas City Royals 9-2.

Making matters worse, the game ended when Anthony Santander (1 for 4) was thrown out at third base trying to get there from first base on a Pedro Severino single.

Keegan Akin had another shaky start. In 3.0 innings of work, he allowed 6 runs on 8 hits, walked 3, struck out 2, threw a wild pitch and committed a balk. Akins is now 0-5 on the year as he took the loss.

Severino had a productive night at the plate. The Orioles catcher went 3 for 4 with a double, a homerun, 1 run scored and 1 RBI.

Baltimore All-Star Cedric Mullins went 2 for 3 with a run scored and was hit by a pitch.

On the positive side, Cesar Valdez allowed 3 hits and struck out 2 in 3.0 innings of relief after Akin was removed from the game.
