The Baltimore Orioles took to the road and travelled to Boston to face the Red Sox Friday night. The result was a familiar one, a loss, this time by a score of 8-1. The loss stretched the team’s current losing streak to nine games.

Despite another loss, the Orioles saw Cedric Mullins (1 for 4) extend his current hitting streak to 20 games. Mullins wasted no time in doing so; he singled to open the game to eliminate any uncertainty about him continuing the streak.

Richie Martin (1 for 4, 1 Run Scored, 1 RBI) hit his first homerun of the season, a shot to right field, just past the Pesky Pole in the third inning. Jorge Mateo (1 for 4) was the only other Baltimore batter to have an extra-base hit when he doubled in the 9th inning.

Pedro Severino went 2 for 4. He was the only Oriole to have a multi-hit game.

As a team, the Orioles had runners on base in 7 of the 9 innings but could only cross home plate once.

Spenser Watkins started and took the loss, dropping his record to 2-4. The righty allowed 6 runs on 7 hits, giving up a Xander Bogaerts homerun in the 4th inning, while walking 3 and striking out 1.

The relievers, Dusten Knight (2.0 IP, 1 H, 2 BB) and Cesar Valdez (2.0 IP, 3 H, 3 K), both gave up homeruns.
