The Orioles hosted the Atlanta Braves on Friday night and for the sixteenth time since the second of August the game resulted in a loss. Atlanta shut out the Orioles 3-0, extending the current losing streak and moving it closer to the 21 game losing streak that began Baltimore’s 1988 season.

If your last name didn’t start with the letter M, you didn’t get a hit. Trey Mancini (2 for 3, 1 double), Ryan Mountcastle (1 for 4) and Jorge Mateo (1 for 3) made up the entirety of the Orioles offense. Mateo extended his hitting streak to eleven games while Mountcastle extended his to twelve games.

The Orioles drew no walks off Braves pitching, hit into two double-plays and obviously couldn’t plate Mancini; Austin Hays (0 for 3) failed to drive him in in the fourth inning. The Orioles also went three-up, three-down five times including the 8th and 9th innings.

Keegan Akin’s woes continue as he lost his eighth game of the season. The southpaw allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, walked 3, struck out 3 and threw a wild pitch in 5.0 innings of work. Akin surrendered 2 homeruns which accounted for all 3 of Atlanta’s runs.

Dillon Tate relieved Akin and retired all five of the batters he faced.

Paul Fry (1.1 IP, 1 H, 1 BB) and Tanner Scott (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 K) held the Braves scoreless but the Orioles were held scoreless as well.
