A fractured thumb in late August ended his first professional season, but he showed enough to think he may have a future as a 4th outfielder one day. He comes in at #29.

What we know: A 2nd round pick in the 2020 COVID shortened draft, Haskin made his professional debut and was having a solid season until a fractured thumb ended his season in late August. Haskin has a very unusual stance and swing that uses a mainly pull approach to barrel up pitches. He did put up an impressive 27.5 line drive rate at Aberdeen but he has more doubles power than home run power. He does have some pull power on occasion, but he hits a lot of ground balls and doesn’t have much lift to his swing.

While he did put up a combined .381 OBP, he only walked 32 times to 78 Ks and struggled at times with good inside fastballs and offspeed.

Defensively hoe’s ok in left field and can play center field adequately, but he doesn’t get the jumps or pure foot speed you want in an everyday major league center fielder. He runs well though and should be able to play center field adequately in a 4th outfielder role.

What we don’t know: Will he hit for more power as he gets more experience? Without a ton of power, will has OBP fall off?

What we think: A good comp for Haskin is Joey Rickard. There’s some ability here but we’ll have a better idea once he gets to the upper levels of the minor leagues.
